dull together

is it me or does the neumann u87 and a avalon 737 sound a little dull and need a bit of high end eq on it

or is it because im recording flat and should cut some bass.

Assuming there's nothing wrong with your ears, it's really just a matter of personal taste. I don't really think anyone can say any more than that, but I'm sure someone will be along to correct me shortly.

I've always thought the U87 sounded dull. Going into the Avalon surely won't help. There will be a lot of posts after this praising the 87 and slagging the Avalon, but I've always found the 737 to be great with a brighter mic. I've never put the 87 up as anything other than a last resort/I don't care type of thing. Sure, it never sounds bad, but it never sounds great either.

yeah i got it because i heard it was world class and i though that ment that it would sound like pro vocls and it did i was just thinking it sounded pro flat i had to boost as much as 5 db in hight like 8-12k area maybe some one knows a better mic.

U87s are amazing on cellos,mandolins, and bass cabs.

im not on the micing part of the game yet im just into vocls mostly nothing like some live gt though
