Sync Question....

I have a Rosetta 200 going to Logic on the Mac.

Should I be setting Logic to EXTERNAL sync to lock to the Apogee or does it matter when you only have these two digital devices?

Thanks
TH

How are the 2 connected? If via firewire...no, the Apogee is acting as the master clock already.

If the apogee is going in via the mac's lightpipe interface, then yes the mac needs to be set to external.

In the first example you've only got one system, the 2 parts being connected by data streams across firewire (hence the apogee is the internal clock of the system). in the second example only the audio stream is connecting them, so they're 2 separate devices.

Sorry I should have been more specifc, I'm using a Symphony system, so the Rosetta is connected via the PCIe cable from the card inside the 200 to the PCIe card in the Mac, like Pro Tools would be....

Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom,

With a single Rosetta 200 connected with the Symphony card, you would just set the Symphony to Internal. Logic it self does not really clock from the hardware like another piece of hardware would. If you add any other digital hardware you would then have a situation where you would have one device on internal and the other on external.

If you have any other questions please let me know. Also feel free to call tech support (310)584-9394 or E-Mail support@apogeedigital.com

Thank you Chris....and btw, this is one hell of a system. Sounds outrageous, and now when I do guitar parts and vocals it doesn't sound like I'm at the Drive-In....("Drive-In"....you guys know what those are, right??? ;))
