Used the 1/2" all this week.

Great tape.

Just as good, or better than anything I've ever used.

Cheers,

SM.

How does it compare to the RMG Sm900 soundwise?
Does the tape shed? The Sm900 sheds a lot.

I had a great discussion with Mike and am committed to using his 2" on the next project, and not using anymore of the GP9 that is still kicking around. Will post down the road. We should just be glad someone is making Tape!!!

Using 1/2" ATR Tape Now - The best tape I have ever used.

I've been using ATR tape 1/2" for the last 2 weeks on an ATR-102.
I've had incredible results. I purchased 10 reels and everything from
the consistency to the sound and alignment are incredible. I have
never heard tape sound this incredible and the other people working
on the project feel the same way. The sound of this tape has to be heard.
The results at 15ips or 30ips are consistent, quiet and show such depth , stunning
imaging & very musical. Beautiful physical packaging as well.

In recent years I've been using Quantegy & RMGI tape with mixed results.
The last batch of RMGI was not consistent and record alignment was different
all the time.

So thankful that this tape exists.

What reference flux are you guys using.

I have been using Quantegy 499 at +6/250nWm. I will be running out of tape soon and want to know how the ATR stuff would compare.

Thanks,
-Neil

I just finished mixing The Raconteurs new record to ATR Tape and I will echo the above post. Just fantastic. We printed to 1" @ 15 ips, and it was everything we expected it to be. The tracks were cut on 2" RMGI 900, (Joe Chiccarelli recorded amazing tracks!) but we could only get a couple complete playbacks of some songs before we had to clean the machines...

Thanks Mike!
