The Wikipedia entry for Frankenstrat states that the 300 Fender replicas
sold out in 15 minutes... How many of those you think went to dealers and
speculators? I'll bet most.
I'd imagine all of them went to dealers...Fender doesn't sell them directly to end users, do they?

Saying that they all sold out in fifteen minutes only means that the dealer network perceived enough of a demand for the guitars to make sure that they nabbed one. Not that three hundred people plunked down twenty-five grand right away. Although I'd be interested to know how many of those guitars are still available now...

I've read the G.C. forums, it'd be nice to gt past the sme old riff raff bichining about a "badly built guitar." Got it. This is either about art or not. Collectible or not. Valuable or not.
Reading about how much went into painstakingly recreating every detail, down tho the year of the quarter and the correct reflectors...not to mention all of the cosmetic detail...I'm sure it was a fairly laborius guitar to produce. If it's "badly built" that only means that Eddie's original guitar was "badly built" as well and they've recreated it exactly. I guess it will just take some time to see how wise of an investment it will be...my guess is that a good number of them will go to Hard Rock Cafe-type places and wealthy collectors...probably quite a few will wind up in Japan...

I like how the reviewer says its only applicable the "the display case crowd"

That makes sense. It is amazing, that the builder from Fender got it that close just from photos. The Vid with he and Eddie implied that he never saw the original in his hands, until he finished the prototype.

Thats pretty cool.....I dunno for what, but it is.

Ill probably only get 2 now, instead of 3..!!

Not sure how hard it is to "scour" for 1971 quarters

Ok... so any GearSlutz own one of these bad boys?

If you do, do you think it's a decent investment or will hold value... go up?

Just dying to know who, how and why... not to ridicule, I'm honestly curious.

Oh my Gawd!! Dude you just cracked me up good. I was kinda thinking that the whole time. Noice!!!

Well seriously, owning one would mean that you would be one of those who actually had one....sorry...duh but it would be valuable. 25k valuable..I don't know bro. Honestly in a sick but not so sick but sick way I wouldn't trade MY $600 ax for it. Ironically but on the money is that my ax is my own frankenstrat....know what I'm sayin. That guitar is litteraly a replica of a freaked out guitar. Freaked out guitars are like in there own essence proper as in the guitar lived what you see and in the replica since that is the highlight it just seems so false, to have history explaind that way you know. My guitar is a Fernendes body and a custom (jeez I don't even know the name) neck. I luv it. The neck plate aside from a tone knob, maybe a volume knob and a spring or two is the only thing I have left from my 83 strat.

At some point in the late 80s/early 90s, Eddie was a Kramer endorser (remember that ad with him and John McEnroe?).
He slapped a Kramer neck onto the Frank's Charvel body (probably for contractual reasons).

I remember seeing the original in the window of GC on Hollywood Blvd. in the summer of '89.
I was in heaven & drooooooooooooooooling.(Then I went accross the street to Waldo's and got a blue BC Rich, lol!)
Is there a butt from a Marlboro Light squeezed under the strings at the headstock of the replicas?
If not, then they can't be for real.

The "presale" was exclusive to GuiTarget who bought the entire run...

I'd wager that there's at least a few left in the system...

I think the "quarters" were the real origin of the "brown" sound....or was all the nicotine Franky inhaled....

I worked at the store Edward shopped at in Pasadena. He gravitated toward "craptastic"

Remember "One foot out the door"?

One day I was messing with a crappy EH touchpad keyboard when Edward came in so I played Eruption on it(it had a pitch slider for the ending!!!).He immediately straightened me out on the "right way to play it on guitar....fastest best lesson I ever had!!

He took the EH home ...

The rumor is .....that's it on the "One Foot".
