For a groove producer: is this gear justified? Help me to make a good choice!

Hello,

I'm making groove and am planning on using a lot of samples and synths, and to re cord vocals.

NEEDED - What I want is this:

1. record a stereo output from a synth or sampler, tweak with a stereo analog EQ + Compressor combo, and record it into the DAW (running Logic) with a stereo AD-box.

2. record vocals from a good to quality studio mic through a mic preamp, tweak it with the same analog EQ + compressor combo, and again record it into DAW.

3. when the mix is more or less complete, run the separate tracks out a quality DA-box through an analog mixer/buss for summing (and maybe some little tweaking), then process it through again the same stereo analog EQ + compressor combo for finalizing/mastering the mix.

REQUIREMENTS

-The AD and DA's need to have Firewire or FW-option, thats also necessary.

-The analog EQ and compressor need to be as transparent as possible, but the compressor must be able to "grunge" too

-The compressor should be versatile enough to mimic most compressor characteristics (cf. TFPRO P8, EL distressor)

It's quite a simple setup, but I have a really hard time what
my quality Mic Pre, AD/DA, EQ and compressor should be.
They have to be of the better higher quality, as I also intend to improve the room acoustics and monitoring chain.

But I just want to at last settle down with a few bits of well considered high quality gear and do quality recordings for years to come.

My questions for you all:

a) Is the gear below justified for my kind of music and sound? I mean, maybe a GR preamp is better justified for pure acoustic recordings eg, and I need a better 'all round' preamp...

b) In the mastering section, isnt it best to enter the analog EQ after the compressor? Or else the comp will heavily react on the EQ-tweaks...

c) What are your thoughts on my choices below and what would you recommend?

These are the devices I am considering after reading numerous of your posts and reviews:

°°° Preamps-
Great River MP-2NV --- my pick
Vintech X81

°°° Analog EQ-
Great River EQ-2NV --- my pick
GML 8200

°°° Analog compressor-
EL fatso (cos distressor is mono)
TFPro P8 (lots of diff characterics possible) --- my pick
Cranesong STC8

°°° Analog summing-
Cranesong Spider
DB 2Buss
API 8200A --- my pick, but is it colourless??? hmmm...

°°° ADDA-convertors-
2-channel:
Apogee Rosetta 200 (firewire option!) --- my pick
MH labs ULN2 (firewire!)
Cranesong Flamingo

m-channel:
Apogee Rosetta 800 (firewire option!) --- my pick
Apogee ADDA16X (firewire option!)
MH Labs 2882 (firewire!)
Lavry??? (too expensive me thinks)

Please, if you have good feedback, I would appreciate it to make a better choice.

Thanks!
