The AK-47 is here to stay... at least for another few years.

Peace.

I've been using the Neumann/Gefell 582 for over 15 years. It's an incredible mic! The Tele M260, which I've used on several occasions, is simply average.

telefunken Elam 260

Since I own several models of Telefunken, now elektroakustik, I can attest that the 260 is on the top of my list and probably one of Telefunken best model manufactured to date. I have in my locker 251, Ak47, M16MK2, 260 and m80.
I also have a C12 next door if I need to use it. Anyone who is interested in recording should own at least one (or a pair) of 260 and a M16MK2. These soon discontinued mics would be classics in a couple of years. I love them.

Did someone say the 260 was being discontinued anytime soon? I didn't catch that. We just got a pair and I'll be trying them out this weekend.

The M-16 mkII was discontinued on 14 January 2010.

The ELA M 260 will be with us for quite a while to come.

Hope that clarifies any confusion you may have.

Peace.

i'm not sure how available this information is, or if i just missed it...but:

what kind of transformer is in this mic???? (is it sourced from the same company that does the rest of the TF electro mics?)

and i imagine the mini tube is a telef as well......?

i keep coming back to this mic because i have several ck1's....and it would be nice to get some tubes behind those capsules.

so i'm just trying to get a better picture of the mics internals!

Transformer is proprietary and built in the US. There are at least 3 companies that build transformers for TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik, and I ain't tellin' you which one did this one.

Tube is a "NOS" TELEFUNKEN EF-732.

Hand assembled in S. Windsor, CT USA.

Peace.
