Just totaly upgraded, help needed!please advise!

I have just saved up and baught a while lot of gear to replace my Roland VS1880. I have the following now:
Chandler TG2
Crane Song Trakker (2)
Distressor (2)
Benchmark DAC1
Lavry 8 Channel A/D
Soundelux e47
Soundelux u99
royer r-122
Josephson C42 (2)
Emprical Labds Fatso

What is the best way to use these items? I want to record some great rock and roll tunes, and am wondering how you guys would set up the above mentioned gear to get great drum, bass, guitar and vocal recordings. I am using a DIGI002 Rack. How much compression do you use on a distressor when micing a kick drum with a chandler tg2 and a beta52? Whats the best pattern on a u99 for recording vocals? Does the crane song tracker make a good compressor for tamboring? What of the above mics should I record the tamborine with? I see that people often dont just use the gear they have recently baught to just figure out for themselves what it works well on, and what it sucks for, so I figure I should just do the same, and save myself some time. Ill let you guys clue me in from your personal trial and error.

wow, that's a trunkful of nice gear you just bought.

here's what i do:
- listen to my mixes, determine what's lacking
- see if the gear on hand can remedy it
- if not, do a lot of research and buy a piece of gear that i think will help
- try said gear on said deficiency
- experiment a bunch to see what else the gear does for me
- practice

i find it's easier to integrate one piece at a time. good luck w/ your purchases.

Hmm, some good musicians with nice instruments playing a nice song definitely would be a step in the right direction.

Ah, an easy answer to all the above questions: whatever sounds best

Have fun and remember, no short-cuts on the journey of audio-hapiness

Good luck,
Dirk

Send them to me and I'll send you copies of the records I make with them.

Seriously, Plug 'em in and hit the red button. Listen. Plug 'em into different things. Listen. Enjoy the journey!
