Bring back the 4 slot lunchbox!

Am I the only one thinking the API 4 slot lunchbox should never have been discontinued? I think that was the perfect compact API toolbox on the go. And easier to fill up too...

...and keep the TT jacks on the back, set it right near the bay and get to work.

Yeah, let's bring back the 4 space and raise the price back up while we are at it...

The tt jacks and external PSU were great features though...

Whats the point.
the six spaces' are dirt cheap, built like tanks and still portable as hell.

I have a 4 space API with 512b preamps. Is my mainstay for drums and alot more. and the main tech at API Ray Blevins saved my butt by supplying the parts to fix it to my tech and saving a gig. Actually 2 gigs. API sound and service is great. The B's are my old ones like 10 years old or more. Killer sound and service. I also have a 6 space one...

As far as I am concerned API all the way!

Thanks Ray

I believe 6 spaces are fine to start with. They're cheap enough to justify selling them in this 6-space format, even if you only fill up 4 spaces...
What cannot be justified to me, is leaving out the integrated TT patch bay...(Or did I miss something, and is TT on its way out as well?).
Part of their portability is, of course, due to their size, but also due to the fact you had both TT and TRS i/o. To me, the extra i/o makes it even more 'portable' than the sheer size and weight of the box: can put it on the meter bridge/producer panel and hook it straight up to the patch, or put it somewhere else and hook it up to a remote wall patch.
Of course, I'm looking at it from the perspective of the traveling soldier...Best, RR

6 slots versus 4 slots may make the difference between me buying a lunchbox or not. I don't see why they couldn't offer both is all I'm saying.

Would you pay more for the 4 space than the six ??

Economy of scale...make lots of one...bring the price down

The single space 2 holer is too expensive...again...economy of scale.

The A2D seems like a bargain tho

API sells modules. Why would they want to give you fewer slots? They want to sell more modules.

Toastmaster still makes a four-slot, though.

tt would be very cool on the lunchbox. A better P.S. would be cool also. I really don't care about having two more slots though. Seems like a bonus to me.

What are you guys complaining about? XLR > tt cables are readily available. And most large format studios have a "guest gear" bay with xlr's that runs to the patchbay. I just don't see the point.

I don't see why I should pay more for a 4 slot than a 6 slot. I think if a 4 slot was reintroduced and priced higher that the 6 slot it would be due to a strategic pricing policy to encourage people to pick the 6 slot over the 4. I would consider paying the same price as a 6 slot for a 4.

I think the 6 slot is the way to go. You actually need 8 good pres to mic a drumkit MINIMUM . (Or I think so) But can get away using 6. And the 6 space API is very reasonably priced and has held up well for the 8 months I have had it. And my 10~15 year old 4 spacer is still lighting up every day...

Sorry for the bump.

Are you guys saying the 4 slot lunchbox had TT/Bantam in/out in addition to large jacks?

Lunchbox

Nobody brought this up, but wouldn't it be really nice to have a lunchbox for the API 200 series? That would get us into the API directs, 212L pres, expander/gate, and compressor/limiter - and more. Why not a 6 or 8 slot 200 series lunchbox!?
