Tubes

Can anyone recommend a good source for tubes. I am looking for tubes for replacement some of which are rare or hard to find. I would like to find a company that has guarentees.

what kind of Guarentee are you looking for?

New sensor has stockpiles of old oddball tubes. if you go to an Electro harmonix dealer, they should be able to show you what kind of are available and what price.
I could tell you if they stock the ones you need if you have the numbers.

you could also try Doug's Tubes (www.dougstubes.com)
he tests all his stuff. he was recommended to me by the guys at Groovetubes.

also Vacuum tube valley (www.vacuumtube.com) has lots of old tubes

as well as Angela Audio (www.angela.com)

I've ordered from all of them and had good experiences.

i have got tube from Angela Audio in years past with no issues.
be careful of getting tubes off ebay, short of knowing who you are getting them from.
Angela Audio sales on ebay as well as other reputable tube dears, but their are a lot of tubes that do not come up to snuff being sold as nos when they are not.
my favorite is the, tests as nos:(

Well, I would like to find a 6072 for my Manley Gold Reference, but I understand that some of these tubes, if you can find them are noisey. If I buy an expensive NOS tube and it is noisey it is a waste of money. I am concerned that most of the NOS is been pretty well picked over.

well, vacuum tube valley has them in stock. they do say that all of the tubes are thoroughly tested, and Guarenteed for 30days.

I'd say thats quite fair.

I've purchased from this fellow for 10 years. He knows his stuff, and he's absolutely fair. If you need something tested for noise he'll do it for a modest additional charge. Plus, we've always had long, entertaining conversations. A totally great guy.

i used to say upscale audio, but screw them! go with someone else

they now make you sign and fax an agreement saying they aren't responsible at all for their tubes...even if DOA. some BS
