has anyone heard the avantone cv-28 small capsule tube mic ?

i am curious about this small capsule tube mic......
i wonder why there are not more of them
the old neumann km-54 and km-56 are usually kind of
amazing on many things......

The cv-28 looks like the rebadged groove tubes gt44. Which is a great mic in my opinion. I picked up a pair after reading fletcher and several others diggin them. No complaints for the price. There is also a company called Sterling Audio that does a smilar mic. Also, didn't the km-54 and km56 use nickel diaphragms?

They're quite bright.

It was made by groove tubes for alesis briefly. It was sold under alesis as the am40.

You can hear the Avant CV-28 here: Microphone Clips and Audio Samples at ***************.com

Very impressive mic set to say the least. A real stand out, I did not find them to be overly bright.

i bought a pair. they sound amazing in omni in my warehouse. also, really fantastic on piano. the piano sounds we got were very very special and better than the piano tracks we did at another big studio in town. it has been very easy to make these things sound great with very minimal eq if any at all. they have a nice bottom and i have no complaints. on acoustic they were perfect. haven't tried them close on an electric but they sounded great in omni 15 ft from the amp with a 57 up front. also, i opened one of them up and from inside they are very simple and laid out in kind of a smart way.
