New Pultec At AES Show this fall???

Did someone post there was going to be a reissue of the original Pultec EQP-1A at this comming AES show that lists for $5K?

I would love more info on this if it is true.

Thanks!

I was under the impression that original materials for the production of the transformers could no longer be produced. If there is a reissue I too would like to know about it. I wonder if they would use the same transformers as Fearn.

I thought so-and-so company "trademarked and locked up" any possibilities of any non-Manley company releasing such a product.....?

So it's another manley product....? a 'super-pultec'?

i mentioned it
i saw it it at SMPTE here in sydney

they had an old original pultec
with a big sign that said
'reissue available december 07'

i asked the guys about this
about manley
i thought that manley may have bought the rights to either the name or the actual circuitry

but it turns out not to be so
so yes it looks like the pultec will be back
undoubtedly it wont be exactly the same

Who the hell wants to pay $5K for a EQP-1A reissue?

Hopefully no one hear is that foolish.

It will basically drive the price of the original through the roof.

Faithful or not its a reissue.

No reissue should be valued over the original unless you are some crook salesman at some vintage hi end store who is looking to drive up the price of the originals.

I just think it's a pretty bad way to invest your money. 5 years from now you aren't going to get $5K back re-selling a re-issue. Hell, I wouldn't pay that for a re-issue. AMTEC price is legitimate. Then again, if I had $2500, I'd get another EQH instead.

Wow, so then if the re-issue price is 5k why not just get an original? I figured that would be around what they go for- man that's a lot of dough but the few times I've had the pleasure of working with them I'm really thinkin' hard about it. Are they like 1176s where there is a vast difference from unit to unit- regarding the EQP-1a? Thanks.

That reminds me to add myself to the "list"

I dunno how they are going to get the Pultec sound without those Peerless trannies.I heard that they did a short run for one of the studios in Ohio.I've been trying to find out who that was without any success.Anybody know anything??

It's morally wrong to allow a sucker to keep his money.

The EQP-1A has the 16K peak boost band, 5k,10k & 20K attenuater, 7 different freqs for high boost and tube makeup gain.

The EQP-1 only goes to 12K peak boost, no high attenuater or tube make up.

The EQH-2 only goes to 12K, no high attenuater, no bandwith control, peak/attenuate boost of 3k,5k,8k,10k,12k.

EQP-1A3 2 space EQP-1A made either with tubes or solid state. Some have an API 2520 as the makeup amplifier.

MEQ-5 mid band equalizer with peak boost/attenuate freqs of 200,300,500,700,1000hz,1.5k,2k,3k,4k,7K.

The Pultecs were all made custom order by hand.
