Ensemble´s gain controlled via usb-midi?

Can´t find the answer to this anywhere:
Am i able to use an Usb-midi device to controll the gain settings for the preamps and/or outputs of the apogee ensemble, or do i have to do this with my mouse/the knop on the front?

Thank you for any answers that can clarify.

Also: Any alternatives to the ensemble that i should concider? The package is perfect for me except for the lack of fw800 (i know i don´t need the bandwith). Is the rme firface 800 in the same league or is the Ensemble way better?

Thanks in advance
Morten
