Nice mic pre match for a Lawson L47?

I'm looking for a good mic pre to use with a Lawson L47. Any proven successful combinations? Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,
Rock

BTW, some other stuff that might help you advise...

- It will be used primarily in a home studio to record my own voice (male, country, wide dynamic range, sort of resonant)

- Anything from 1-8 channels would be fine

- Analog or digital output would be fine

- hoping for something around $1k with a limit of $2k.

I usually use my L47 with one of three preamps - a Great River NV, a Vintech X73 and a Phoenix Audio DRS-2. All work very well (But then, the modified Drawmer 1960 worked well with that mic).

I've been highly pleased with that mic no matter what pre I've run it through.

Favorite Lawson combination for male rock vocals so far:

L47 -> Neve 1093 -> Dbx 165A or LA2A->Distressor

I've found the Neveish sound works well. I've used APIs as well but they bring out that little 5K bump on the mic a little too much. I want 12k!

It ain't a real 47 but it kicks some serious ass.
