Ernie and Bert API Console

Meriphew pointed this out on PSW:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=23785

If it is in good shape, $35K looks to be a screaming deal for the console used to record such classics as "C is for Cookie", "How To Get to Sesame Street", and who could forget "Rubber Ducky (You're the One)"?

Seriously though, 20 550A's? Man, I want this thing...

Beautiful, but that´s $35k and "reserve not met" so I guess he´d want a lot more to let it go.

Right, Spend 35 or 40 G with someone
with no track record on ebay.

I wouldn't buy a SM58 from
someone with that little
reputation.

Very true, but one should never purchase something of that cost from a private seller without actually personally inspecting it and doing the deal in person. Even though you are "obligated" to buy it by winning the auction, if upon inspection of the item you find it defective or not as it was listed you have the right to cancel the purchase. An ebay headcahe for sure, but we're talking about a $40k console here.......A refutable negative feedback point is a lot better than a $40k scam......

Q - To anyone that has used one of those API's

Isnt it a PITA to have your head in the nearfields while reaching up for the EQ's?

I dont think I have seen EQ's mounted so high...

The routing sould be up there, not the EQ's IMHO

Anyhow, I am curious

My experience consists of exactly one session on one of these beautiful consoles, but the quick answer to Jules' question is that you don't have to move your body to adjust this EQ. An API is not like an SSL or other over stuffed beast. You can easily reach those eqs without your back ever coming off the comfy part of your chair. THese are not the type of console that require a motorized chair and seven foot arms.

LMFBO!

I could just imagine the look on some metal guitar players face when I tell him that the micamp & EQ I'm using on his rig had Big Bird coming though it just a few years earlier.

I used to work on a big ol' API at PS Studios in Chicago, but it was before nearfields became popular so it wasn't really an issue at the time.

What I would give to have some of the gear from that room now....
