Yes, the Bricasti plates are a bit more dense and invisible than PCM-91. But for longer halls, I somehow preferred Lexicon (for my use and taste)

Anyway, while being almost perfect and admirable, it did not appeal to me that much that I would think of buying it. It inspired me for changing my PCM-91 for 300 L
That's interesting, because we sold all but one each of our Lex 300's and PCM 91's once we got our M7's. The M7 is far and away the most natural sounding reverb we have used to date. (For full disclosure, I've had an M7 in various prototype forms for almost a year. We purchased the first 3 production units)
I've been a beta tester for Lexicon for the past 15 years, and owned each and every Lex reverb, from the 300, 300L, PCM80/90, PCM81/91 to the 960L. I used a 480L for 15 years and own a Reverb 6000. I've also worked on the development of the reverb and mastering programs for the KSP-8. The M7 reverb is not like any of these others. It has a density and smoothness that has to be heard to be believed.
Brian Zolner actually came down to Symphony Hall in Boston with me while I was doing reverb for a Living Stereo project I was mastering. The empty hall preset is modeled after the reverb we recorded that day. I must admit it was very close to the real thing.
I'm not saying that I'm gonna stop going out and recording real natural reverb, but the tests we did comparing a slightly tweaked empty hall preset with the real thing is pretty eye opening. I would call it 95% of the way to the real thing and that's about 20% closer than we've ever been.
To add to all this, the Analog section was designed by the guys that did the Mark Levinson preamp/DA processor. It is actually a better AD/DA than all but the best standalone converters. Think audiophile quality.
I'm glad you and others out there are looking to buy a Lex 300, it's keeping the used price above what we paid for out units new. ($2600 in 1991)

All the best,
Mark

I heard some samples over headphone, dry and wet ,and I ´ve been very impressed from the ta****l, natural sounding reverb. It gave me the impression to hear an instrument in a real space. Delicious and IMHO better than any PTHD convolution verb I´m familar with.

IMO many would be happy with 480's sounds faithfully replicated with new technologically advanced reverb box. Seems that M7 doesn't sound close to 480 (for good or bad depends on application) and has probably its own natural&transparent reverberation interpretation.
In clean reverb department some IRC based reverbs are already very good, so M7 should really bring a lot more (hopefully).

All the best,
Mark

I concur with Mark. You could speculate about it all day, but if you've not heard it in person (not via an mp3), then you've just not heard it. All else is conjecture. In my opinion (again, just my opinion) there is the M7, and then there's everything else. Here's my thread about my experience with the M7:

Kind regards,

I didn't keep it because of 95% of ground is covered by arguably better reverbs in my case, but it's definitely worth attention.
Which better reverbs? Just curious..

In my case as main reverbs TC Reverb 4000, Eventide 2016 and Lex 300, plus some older for particular jobs as Roland, Sony and Yamaha, plus SW convolution reverbs.

After playing with a Bricasti for ten minutes I've been ready to plunk down the money for one. (The money is the main issue, not the reverb).

It did some amazing things, with very few tweaks needed. Almost everything came out musical and useful, unlike a LOT of dig verbs. I took a drum sound with a long dark hall and shortened it to a bright reflection setting; a tight bright room. It was GREAT in both settings and the tweak took only about 15 seconds to get from one to the other.

It especially shines when you hear the WET signal only - that's when i first got the sense of how damn good this thing is. It's like real room mics - you CAN listen to it as it's own track.

It's not cheap, nor is most great audio gear.

Sweetwater among others.
But I couldn't get it from couple of dealers.
Seems Bricasti directly delivers promo units to testers/early adopters.

US Availability

Regarding Availability in The US,

Summit Audio is the US distributor for the Bricasti Designs M7. We have indeed placed a few demo units. Over the next 3 or 4 weeks, the production units will start to be delivered to dealers that have ordered the units. Generally, one can expect to find the unit at high end dealers through out the US that have chosen to stock the product. I am available to help arrange demos and help put anyone interested in touch with a dealer directly.

Warm Regards,

Any idea about street price?
I would expect this unit to go around 3000-3100 $ street after first demand satisfied.

D & GYang ..Sorry dudes for the stupid long delay// ..
and sorry folks,no samples.

Big thanks to the Summit/Bricasti gang for the demo ..Damon, Casey,etc.. you guys rock!

We had the Bricasti here alongside a 480L and for the itb thing..TL space,
couldn;t do the EMT 140 ,BX 20,etc because Tetness's new 8058 ain't quite hooked up
yet and our Neve/reverbs,etc were out on rental
I can see why[based on the Lexi lineage] folks will want to compare it to a 480,etc[nice, personally not a "must have" for me tho]..
but this box has its own super classy thing..
it's NOT a lexicon reverb,so don't expect one.
..although it can pretty much go there and well beyond.

As I remembered at AES and Namm, the M-7 sounded great..
Initially I remembered it as overall cleaner/more transparent[although the chorusing cranked up gave the thing some cool character] than the 480..less digital artifacts..tails seemed to stay w-i-d-e to the bitter end..[Super pristine audiophile conversionthumbsup ]
Yep,a lot smoother overall than the 480.
I can see why classical guys are flipping out over it..
the reverbs are incredibly lush.
the spaces sound very, very natural..very "real".
Although It might not completety replace our beloved 140's, I really dug the plate presets too..especially for drums /perc.sounds were nice live/big/ in your face..but extremely natural..some of the nicer digital plates I've heard.
I found with the a little tweaking[very fast/easy/intuitive/zero learning curve imo] I could match up and and often create something better to the 480's patch's pretty easily..
and as I expected, the TL space as nice as it is.. however hard I tweaked,..just pales in comparison.
the real proof came listening to stuff in the mix..
I had a soul/gospel thing up..nice dry drums..big vocals,hammond /rhodes,etc
the Bricasti sounded great on every source..easy to get things to settle into the track.you could really pour the stuff on w/out overwhelming the mix..really hard to get it sounding effecty..just couldn't make the sucker sound bad..
A slam dunk for big pretty modern R&B vocals.
I see this as a great compliment to all the other stuff..on the cleaner side[the conversion on this thing is outstanding]..but a beautiful badass thing nonetheless..
I would love to spend some time throwing some weird stuff on the outputs[Germanium eq or comps would be fun,Neve line amps FX send/returns won't suck either]]

Cant' wait to do some mixes with it in Tet's new neve room[EMT,480,$#@),my stuff, etc
I also look forward to hearing new presets as they come..
.Just remember this is version#1..plenty of growth potential here.

I REALLY wish i could afford two.
