Thread Starter | SO many questions... SERIOUS MIX BUS. AP So today I sold my Neotek Console. The Motu 828 Box, The DAT machine... basically sold everything except my compressors (API2500, and DBX 160VU) and am getting ready for an upgrade. What I need? 2 really good mic channels with EQ and compression... into Pro Tools LE through a good converter + another 8 line sources for my sampler outs and turntables. I am going to go with a Digi 002 rack and either a benchmark or apogee converter for the front end, maybe a rosetta for mixdown. So on mix I will need the Pro Tools outs, midi synched to my mpc outs at mixdown, through a nice line mixer, with a few (2?) FX sends straight to 2 track tape machine. I have been using the API stuff (7600 strip especially) for recording because I love the sound of it. So what I am wondering is this. In a real world appication as a final 2-bus mixing soulution, how is the 7600 front end, combined with the 8200 line mixers and 7800 master control? more sends would be nice, but since the 8200 line cards have a direct out (and return switch for monitoring...) I think this would work very well in combination with a good multi channel A/D out of Pro Tools. I want my new stuff to sound amazing, and would rather spend the $ on a nice expandable hardware section than a digial i/o device that will be outdated in a few years. Have any of the pros here been using this setup as a back end? |
