Main Monitors

Hi, i'm new to GS but i've been a regular visitor to the site reading up on the interesting stuff you guys talk about. It's very educational, thanks. Now, i'm planning on building a Hi end home studio within 2yrs and was wondering what's the best Mains out there now. I produce Reggae & Dancehall so i need something that'll be true and will be able to handle the bottom end that goes with my style of music. I was looking at the ATC stuffs (SCM200s / 300s) and there pretty interesting. Could you guys recomend others that u know will sound good. Looking to do Protools HD3, SSL & a bunch of great Highend Rack Gears in a med size room.
Thanks

Some of the big ADAM's are absolutely amazing if the room is well designed and built... and Fran Manzella from fm Design is building some seriously nice mains... I heard them up at the control room he redesigned and built up at Blue Jay recording and was floored by them [if I could only afford them I'd put them in my room in a heartbeat!!!!].

Best of luck with all you do!!

I´m still in love with Adam, too.

I havent the big ones, just 2 samll (P-serise) + subs and a well designed room.

Before i got the Adams, i realized my mixes always sounded different at home, in the car or on other systems. After i got the adams, my mixes just got better and i was much more satisfied while hearing them on other systems.

This may sound like "hocus pokus", i know

The Adams got a very detailed midrange and the highs are pleasing to you ears. I think, that i can work longer without getting ear fatigue.
Mixing without the lower octaves wouldn´t be a good idea, too (espacially for your music) so get the bigger adams, or subs.

Just one more opinion....
i hope this helps

Hey Guys, thanks for the response. The Adam Speakers are excellent but i burn the ribbon tweeters very easily. I have the S 2.5s & i burned the ribbons twice already. Also Circle House Studios in Miami have the Mains and swear by them but are afraid they or an outsider will burn the tweeters as well, so i don't want to be mixing or inventing and have to be thinking about them darn tweeters when i get too excited. And Flecther, those Griffin Speakers really look interesting. I may have to make an appointment and go have a listen to them at work. Any other Suggestions? Thanks alot guys

Go for the ATC's, you WON'T be dissapointed If you have the cash add in another SUB SERIOUS CLEAR BASS.

Have you considered Meyer Sound? What I've heard from them, I've liked.

Thank again guys, will definately be calling Pro Audio Designs. Spoke to supa Engineer Kevin "KD" Davis ( Been one of my mixing engineers for awhile now) and he's suggesting Ausbergers with TAD components. He's very familar with my productions. What the word on them? Heard they r like half the price of the ATCs.

I'm using Barefoot MM27's.

But if I were to go for another type of monitor, I'd either get the large ADAMs (S4's and up) or the larger ATCs. I've never liked the smaller ADAMs (2.5's and the 3's) but the larger ADAMs I'd definitely use!

Take a listen to them all and see which you like. Since it's really a personal preference as to which is best in your scenario.

Happy Hunting!

Those r nearfield Monitors.... Need more info on them Mains. I'ma check out some studios with them Ausbergers with Tads Components and also them Griffins. If i can find a Studio with the ATCs i'll check them as well. Circle House Studios has the Adams so i'm covered as far as that is concerned.
Thanks, I will definately check out those nearfields in the future.

Do yourself a HUGE favour and don't buy anything until you've heard the larger PMC models.

'Nuff said,

where will this studio be? Jamacia or in the US? Not that this has anything to do with mains, I am just a fan of your work (living in Tobago at the moment).
