U67 tube problem...any ideas?

I recently replaced a spent Telefunken EF86 with a NOS Mullard EF86 in my U67. The Mullard tests very strong on several tube testers, but for some reason the output of the mic has become VERY low with the Mullard installed, and I need at least 60+ db of gain to get a useable signal. I tried other less quality tubes to make sure nothing else was wrong and I keep coming back to the Mullard tube as the source of the problem. Can anyone shed some light as to why this EF86 would somehow not be compatable with the U67?

Thanks!!
