Thread Starter | Mid Level D/A Converter
Hey everyone, I'm looking for some opinions on some mid-level 2 channel D/A converters, lets say $1K as my budget. I've been recording at a real nice studio in brooklyn (old neve board, ampeg 16 track 2 inch, pro tools hd), but alot of my clients are on really low budgets, so In order to save them some dough, I've been mixing at my apt off of my mbox2. I've got some decent monitors, and so far my mixes have translated well. I'm looking for a D/A for two reasons, 1. the weakest link in my chain, is the D/A, unfortunatly I have to mix in the box, but at least I have some usable plugins, (Waves, Massey, Tri-Tone Digital) 2. I want to eventually add an outboard mix-bus compressor, in order to do that I need the analog outs from the mbox, I'm looking at the Benchmark, the Lucid, and the Apogee MiniDAC. any input would be greatly appreciated, as well as any recomendations that I'm overlooking. |
