Just did the same, but found the opposite: the Royer much more forward-sounding than the C&T (Roswellite, not std.)

Yep! They definitely both have their qualities, IMO.

I don't own any of them but I never fail to be impressed by R84 clips. That mic has the potential to sound smoother than water.
