Hi I make it so I'll post... The 525's don't use the phatom power pin (pin 15) so there's no affect to the unit and no mods need to be done assuming you have a later model 525. The three LEDs stays on to let you know everything's OK, and only if there's a problem with a module or elsewhere, will it dim or turn off for safety. Let me know if there's anything else Avedis

that's so cool! only on GS can you join, ask one question, and have the designer answer you directly! cheers Avedis!

h.s! thanks so much. i do have another question- can you (meaning you,not me) do a mod on the r52 so they can run parallel, across a stereo bus? i understand that your link puts them in series, correct? thanks, really. drew |

I believe you connect 7 to 7 thru a 120 ohm resistor to link 525's.

Yes, the Link switch connects the modules in series. If you want to have the stereo connection for the comps, we'll need to do a simple mod but it involves adding another switch in the back if that's ok. Email me from my website and we'll get that done for you. Avedis |

drewbass, I'm interested to know what you bought the 525 to use on. I'm putting an API rack together myself soon and not seen many comments on the forums about the 525.

hi steve, i want to try them on ebass mainly, and see if it will do the thing on vocals, too. if that goes well, i'm going to get to more as a stereo bus across the drums or my entire mix. again, if it goes well and i figure these things out, i want to get two more for guitars. i have 8 old 312s and 8 melcor gme20s, so i'm actually hoping this will be a complimentary choice... i'll soon find out. i'll keep you posted steve drew |

I would have Avedis do the work if possible, unless you're fully conversant with the guts. (Quad coupling, bTw, requires all four units to be connected 7 to 7 to 7 to 7 thru four 68 ohm resistors (one for each unit), in case you're working in quadrophonic. Please say you are!) To link 525's, all ceiling, mode, release time and De-Ess controls have to be set identically. |

I have a pair API 525, only had them for short time so still early days. I find them very useful on vocals and great on piano, yet to try them on other sources in great detail. I'd like to know more about the 525 on drums as well....anyone? Nic |
