I bought many things in my career but the 1084 must be one of the best purchases I've ever made. I can't see myself selling this thing ever.

You just can't go wrong with it. And I mean the preamp and EQ. Both are amazing.

I never got on with the 1081 and because of that didn't bother checking the 1073/1084 for years. What a mistake!

Sounds great - that thing is pretty expensive as well, even more so than the Wunder... Do you happen to have a sound sample around? Would love to hear the 1084 in action

The GAMA 8 has a Iron (St Ives), Nickel, and Steel transformers that are selectable-- very nice subtle flavors. Similar to 1084. If I could only keep two preamps it would be the 1084s.

Look into the Brent Averill 1084 copies.they sound great at about 35% less $.
You can't go wrong with a 1084.. all time thumbsup pre/eq alongside V76's.

Thanks! Out of curiousity: Any sonic differences to the AMS Neve 1084?

As someone mentioned not to push the Wunders not too hard... I tried them again with lowered input gain... They really sounded a bit more focused and as if the frequencies were a bit more balanced, but the big low-end punch is still missing... So it might just not by my cup of tea. But thanks for all the input! thumbsup I will check out the 1084.
