Distance Between two Adam S3-As

I assume that we all know about the ribbon effect of speaker placement...(i.e. when the speakers are placing too far apart the centre of the stereo field would too stretched, which makes u trying to pan too much singals near the centre....vice verse when the speakers are too near, one would tend to pan too much stuff on the sides)....

I use them horizontally, they are about 1.7m apart...measuring from the tweeter....still experimenting for the best distance.....

How far apart do u guys have ur S3As apart?

may be David Byrce could Chime in n shed some light on the subject?

My triangle side is 1,5m.

I'm very happy with imaging.


My guess is that when the distance goes under 1m imaging is going downhill.

I've never heards that about folded ribbons, or had it pointed out as something that happens with ADAMs. Are you talking about flat/planar ribbons, maybe? That's not the same thing as folded ribbons...

S3As can be used in near and midfield configurations, depending on your taste, your room and the application. Feel free to experiment - you won't hurt anything.
