That's very cool Wes.

Just wondering - is it a pre or a comp?

If a pre, why 2 slots? What's the story? Dammit Jim, We need more details!

Ya can't just leave us hanging like this.

Thats the MP-500NV pre-amp Dan just finished. Of course it's the prototype, and the production model will resemble other Great River NV models...
It's EXACTLY THE SAME THING AS THE ORIGINAL NV PRES (just had to be clear about that up front), just stuffed and squashed into the 500 series box. Dan had to make it 2 spaces wide so the output iron would fit. He finally finished today and this thing is making me want to buy a 500 series rack!

I am in love!! As Dan said in a previous post, he could not/would not trim down the output transformers to fit so it had to be 2 space. Doesn't bother me. When can I get a couple?

I think it should optionally be available in "prototype finish" like in the photos.

Oh, geez. I'm about to wet myself.

As an avid user or the Great River presently, AND someone with a few spaces left in his API 500V, this is simply mouthwatering.

Can someone ask Dan about street date and street price? I assume it would be cheaper than the standard "table-top" ME-1NV, which is about a grand, so somewhere near the perfunctory 500-series $700-$800 price-point?

Do tell...

I would think it would be in that range, 700-800ish...as far as release date...soon...very soon.

I was afraid you'd say that.

Can you ask Dan about a "Digi-esque" Upgrade Plan for current ME-1NV users?

(Just kidding.)

In it's current form, I highly doubt it. To be quite honest, I'm surprised the EQ-1NV fits in the case it's in now, and to try and fit all those controls even onto a 2 space 500 series module would be a huge challenge, much less fitting all the circuitry on a smaller board like that. Dan and I have talked about possibly simplifying the EQ circuit for use in a 500 module, but no plans so far. If you guys really want something like that, let Dan know, I'm sure if there is enough interest expressed, he would put some serious thought into it.

That looks very cool! I kind of like the unfinished look also. It has a certain vibe. Like, yeah, I just threw this pre together, but it sounds kind of cool. I'm curious, I always figured the MP2NV ran off of 24v internally, but is that not the case? If it is, how is the MP 500NV set up?

Yes, the NV pre runs off a 24 VDC single-ended supply. Dan worked some magic to make the 32+- bi-polar supply work...

I thought that this was also the same issue that caused the P1 to differ from the Pacifica. The Pacifica has 24V rails while the P1 makes do with 16V. So the MP500NV will have the exact same power requirements?

as i understand peter had a custom transformer wound for the P-1.
so it is a bit more then just the voltage.
this is not a negative nor dose it have to be by any means.
