Unfortunately the VST-versions are yet on the development stage. I'm waiting for a beta ;)

I really LOVE the TG limiter plug. Prolly the best sounding plug I have heard.

i agree about the TG limiter being fantastic.
i have done the demo for the TG mastering pack eq/filter modules.
i was quite impressed.

it has been awhile since i did the demo, but these were my thoughts (paraphrased from an earlier thread):

regarding the tg12412:
the eq points are carefully chosen and there is a control on each band to select whether you want a low, mid, or high Q setting, or if you want shelving-type.
it is quite musical and versatile!!

regarding the tg12414:
this presence/filter module is my favourite thing about the bundle.
there are HP and LP filters and a very useful and beautiful-sounding 'presence' band that adds sparkle just where you might need it; for vocals and solo instruments this is a kicker!!

this is definitely a unique plug-in eq.
if you already have a fully parametric multi-band eq and a graphical eq such as the URS 'A10' and 'N12' set, this would make a great compliment to those tools.

cheers.

OK so I am on the other side of the fence...maybe I dunno how to use them, but I found the comp useless. I know, flame me now, just my opinion.

However, I use the eqs nonstop, one of my favs. I am pretty much only using it, the Massenburg, and the waves ssl itb for the most part.
The eq is the better of the 2, the filter's hi pass is sometimes hard to even tell its working, but the low pass is very noticeable. The chosen freqs rock the boat on gtrs and drums.
I highly recommend them.

No reason to flame but if you don't like the comp/limiter plugin then you wouldn't like the TG-1. I A/B'd the plugin with my TG-1 and they were frightingly close. Probably the best comp. plugin I've ever heard.

regarding the limiter, I love it in limit mode release1 on vocals and drum room. On a drum parallel I like to use the TG comp and limiter in serial sometimes I gotta try the eq's!

i did a comparison as well.
the hardware tg1 has a bit more "edge" in the high mids, it sounds slightly punchier and a bit more aggressive.

from how i understand how the chander/tg stuff works this is due to the coloration of the analog signal path - which adds some harmonics that tend to build up in the high mids.

but other than that both hardware and software sounded damn similar.

I have heard the same...just not for me I guess.
However, my post was to attest more to the coolness of the eq's, than the opposite of the comp. They really do have a vibe.
That being said alongside of your replies....Has anyone a/b'd the eq plugs to its hardware counterparts with the same outcome as the comp?

I think the TG1 plugin is really great...for a plugin compressor. But it wasn't in the same league as my particular real TG1. I have one from the first batch of TG1's.
But I do think the EMI plug is THE best ITB comp around.

i dig the mastering pack plug-ins, but theres only one way to know if you do.

drop amy@chandlerlimited.com an email with a note saying you wanna give the mastering pack a try, whether you'd like to try TDM or LE (sorry VST/AU isn't ready),
and of course your iLok user name.

i think my favorite use of the TG1 or theTG12413 limiter plug-in is bass guitar.
the other sources listed above are cool, but it would be a sad day for my bass sound not to go thru a TG1.

EMI / Chandler Plugins

Hi,
I have both: the TG Mastering EQ, and the Comp/Limit plugins. Have been using them for quite some time now, and absoltely love them! It's great to hear that they are faithful (within reaon of course) replicas of the hardware, as this helps to curb down the desire to own every single piece of TG / Chandler equipmant... well, helps a little anyway. J.D.'s description sounds about right. I find these characteristics very useful and pleasing: use multiple instances in just ebout every session.
Now, after reviewing all the various posts regarding the 2007 AES I noticed that there are new plugins in the works from Abbey Road! This is news to me (maybe you guys already kne about it), but I could not find much in terms of specifics: what is being developed, what are expected release dates etc.
I only saw references to the ne plugins in a YouTube video from Abbey Road Plugins, and then found these two images (see below) on some Japanese site.
Does anybody know anything concrete about the new Abbey Road Plugins?
Any information will be, as always, much appreciated!

New Abbey Road Plugins

Hi All,

The pictures you see are a sneak look at the RS127 plugin due fore release in Jan at Namm. If you have the recording the Beatles book you can read up on it. It was used on a large percentage of the Beatles recordings. It will be released as TDM, RTAS, VST and AU on day one of launch. The plug you see in the picture will not be the only one in the pack. I will leak some more pictures on here when I can.

Check out www.youtube.com/abbeyroadplugins

If you watch day2 AES video there is some info there about the plugin.

Cheers,

Tom

RS-127 and?

Hello Tom,
Thank you for the additional information. The YouTube videos from AES are how I heard abou the new plugin. The video diary was a nice idea.
So, January release: exciting!
Can you tell us what other plugins are going to be part of the package?
Is it being developed by the same people who made the TG packs?

follow-up?

Hello,

So, now that January is over: what is the status on the new EMI plugins?
The Abbey Road Plug-ins web page only mentiones that the Brilliance package is "coming soon"...
Does anyone know of specific time frame for availability?

Abbey Road Brilliance Pack

The Brilliance Pack will include authentic emulations of EMI EQ boxes from the '60s: Two versions of the RS127 Brilliance Control plus an 8khz EQ.

The original boxes were designed by EMI technicians to supplement the top EQ on the REDD consoles, which was fixed at 5kHz.

The RS127 Brilliance Control, known to the engineers as the "presence box", was a passive EQ unit built in two versions, though the controls and features were the same on both. The first units were housed in racks below the studio patchbays. The second type was a portable, free-standing box (the green unit shown in the photos).

The pack will be available to demo and purchase from our website later this month. It will be compatible with Mac OS X and Windows XP systems and will be launched with support for TDM, RTAS, AU and VST formats.

Kind regards

Abbey Road Studios

Chandler plugs are dope.

I always end up using the 2005 version of the Comp and use it on limit release 1 or two. That really makes things jump out. I have not found alot of using for the comp setting, but I am sure I am just using it wrong. i read that you should try to get it holds down, not near 0dB of reduction. at least, it says something to that effect in the manual.

I want to get the EQ too, but I will wait till they all come out.

I too love the Mastering EQ and plan to buy the bundle ASAP - i did notice while doing some surfing recently that High Profile Audio is offering them at a slight discount - i think they go for >=$300 Native - and HPA has a 'hot deal' going for the bundle at $275... now that's the ticket!!!

bring on the AU/VST as well as the RS127 Brilliance plug-in please!

Hi all,

Thanks for your patience on the Brilliance Pack and Mastering Pack AU & VST versions. Without wanting to repost the same thing, I have answered these questions on this thread:

What happened to Abbeyroad mastering pack AU in jan 08?

Yes, I must say that the TG Limiter (I use the 2005 version the most) is one of my favorite plug-in's of ALL time. This is as good in my opinion as the UA plug-ins. This is the ONLY native plug-in I say this about... though there are some other good ones like URS, etc.

If the mastering brilliance packs are that good... I am gonna go nuts! :) PLEASE be sure to put these out in VST form. I know you have trouble with hackers... but beef up your ilok interaction and go for it! PLEASE!!!

Thanks,

p.s. Wade will be glad when you get these done for VST also because then I will quit bugging him about every time we talk... ;)
