Thread Starter | Coleman TB4 or Dangerous D-Box?
<HR style="COLOR: #666666" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I'm trying here in High End, since I got sort of an attitude (?) in other forums... I hope I find more help in here... I was going to use a Coleman TB4 for my setup. Now I'm considering a Dangerous D-Box. What benefit would I get from using the Dangerous instead? Below please find what my setup would be like (I need to use the CD player for reference, but I can use either analog or digital outputs from it, it's just musical reference, don't need great sound). I would appreciate some guidance on the possible use of the DA converter, possible different connections in my setup, etc. I'm not much of an engineer... Ideas? |

Ok, trying again... Anyone can suggest a way to incorporate the Dangerous D-Box into the provided studio setup instead of the Coleman TB4? Advice/comments on connections appreciated... |

They are both great units. I use a Coleman and I highly recommend it. I have no experience with the D-Box, but I'm sure it's very clean and with the 8 channels of clean summing going on, it definately can do what the Coleman can't. Is summing important to you? If so, go for the D-Box. Oh, and lose the diagram. It's not necessary. |

We love our TB4, really great unit. We've got an extra one for sale, if you're interested. --> freddie

I have been looking over the SPL MTC 2381. it also looks like a contender for your price range.

Thanks all for the replies. I thought the diagram would be useful to get an idea of what I need, because I want to know if the D-Box would fit in the setup as I figure it now, replacing the TB4. It's not only about summing, (yes, why not summing, but...)... for example, the D-Box has an AD converter whereas the TB4 is an all analog unit. Now...the question is...how would the D-Box, the Aurora 8 and my DAW (the MOTU 2408) interconnect? (I'm planning to use an 8-channel preamp, as you see, etc.) I mean, aside from the summing, and considering the different ins and outs that the D-Box offers, would it be a good idea to use it instead of the TB4? |

Unless you are really looking for a summing system, I say skip the Dbox. The coleman is tried and true with very few complaints from people. It has tons of headroom and a transparent sound. You already have the conversion grounds covered so the DA is not really useful to you. The Dbox's only difference is the summing input. Other then that it seems to have the same ins and outs.
