I am SO with you. My friend is a good buddy of Dave Amels, and he says this box is unbelievable. That review would be taken with a huge block of salt, except that my friend is an old school, and very jaded engineer who hates everything new-fangled. He swears that Amels nailed it. Apparently, part of his deal with Digi buying Bomb Factory was that he promised not to develop any more software plugins. Well, guess what? HARDWARE, BABY!!! COME ON!!! I wanna say it's coming in May, but honestly, I can't remember now.

Thread Starter | Not the same. Quote:
The Fatso doesn't really go for the "tape" sound so much as it adds "analogue...ish" harmonics. I've always used it or its sound in its own right, not becuase it sounded like tape, per se. Good piece though. The Portico is more towards taoe and from what I gather, has the signal passing through magnetic tape heads to help that tone (among other elements). Also very good sounding (not saying it's replacing my Studer though) The Anamod is doing something closer to the Portico, while also accounting for different tape stocks, like the difference in sound of GP9 versus 456, etc. As for how it sounds, no idea... hope to find out soon. I just want to know how soon I can get my hands on one! -andrews | |
