Thread Starter | best tracking rooms in LA for gtrs?
hi folks here's a question - any particular favorite L.A. rooms for tracking guitars (99% electric, amped)? - need big sound, but mainly a room where the actual room sounds seriously good so we could do a bunch of different aspects, mic placements etc. etc. Budget no object , would be about 3 days worth of stuff. Looking for a really gorgeous and decent sized live room where the sound of the room would be a usable part of the character (live room here doesn't sound marvellous) - and where we could really push some air. Already got a great guitarist, which is obviously a big part of it... |

Try Sound City in Van Nuys. Big, great sounding room, not gorgeous, but IMO the greatest rock no roll room in L.A. Crank it up, put the mic anywhere, add some 1073 sheen and hit record. Sunset Sound will also get you there. Personally I like the older rooms with the rock n roll vintage vibe. If you're looking for a great vintage collection of amps try Mad Dog in Burbank. -R |
