| AKG 451 B or Audio Technica AT450 in pairs for drum overheads/acoustic guitars I have in my drum locker for overheads the following 1. akg 414 buls 2. 2x audio technica 4047silver 3. akg c451b I am thinking I could use the pair of 4047's and save the need on buying anything. However, I don't know that the 4047's are going to get me the same results or better than a pair of 414's or a pair of c451's. Since I only need 1 of each it would be easy to have a pair. The AKG414 BULS is nice, but I think I actually prefer the 4047silver. THe 4047 seems to pick up a little bit more frequency that allows a bit more colored sound. Where as the 414 is at times just very plain sounding. So that leads me to adding another akg c451 b. But then the idea of a pair of AT450's came up. It would be even cheaper than adding another AKG c451b and I would get a pair. Now money is always an issue, but I can scrape together whatever to make the best setup I need right now. So what would you do with what I have and where would you go with it? |

| For picking up the whole kit, the ATM450 I would take over the AKG C451B all day long. To accent the cymbals and sizzle / attack of a kit only, the C451B would get the call. The sE Electronics SE3 handles both OH and ac gtr duties very nicely (as well as piano) by the way. On a budget it's one of the nicest and most versatile I've used. I would put it about even on drums with the ATM450, but far ahead on acoustic guitar. War
