Haven't bought tickets yet, but I hope to finally make it this year. The fact that it's in New Orleans is a bonus...

I'll be there, Todd from my office will be making his first trip to Tape Op too. We'll bring some new toys!

The Fairmont (the show hotel) is perfectly located to make Bourbon Street the night time hang. I can't wait to have a hurricane and watch the crowd go by..........

If you post here, make a point to come by my table in the exhibitor area and introduce yourself. I'd like to meet you.

PSW worked out a deal with Tape Op Con for discount registrations... it's part of their ad campaign over there... http://ssl.tapeopcon.com/prosoundweb will get you a registration for $295... which I believe is $55- less than the going registration rate... and $205 less than the walkup rate.

In addition to the Bourbon St. hang there is going to be some killer music at the Howlin' Wolf... Saturday features the North Mississippi All-Stars [and there is a rumor going around that Jim Dickenson will be sitting in on B-3!!]... also Harry Shearer [Derek Smalls from Spinal Tap] will be stopping in to the conference as well...

I know I'm pretty psyched about it... see ya in Nawlins...

Nope you don't have to register... unless you want to enter the contest for the Tape Op Con free pass... in which case you would need to register to post an entry... the contest is in j. hall's forum if you feel like giving it a shot.

Peace

Hey, CrazyBeast, are you still looking for a roommate? I just won the aforementioned essay contest (thanks Fletcher and J. Hall!) and am looking forsomeone to bunk with. I know this ismy first post here, but I'm a pretty frequent poster over at Harmony Central, under the handle IsildursBane, and I think most of those guys would vouch for me.

If you're interested, e-mail me at DCOSTEL1@rochester.rr.com

I'll send you a PM about this, too.

I was on the mastering panel and we had a great time.
I also dropped a pile of money on a Mercenary GR EQ. Sounds great!

Apparently, the volume war is over. Just let everyone know.

Jules,

You didn't notice that this thread was about the 2004 TapeOpCon. It was fun too.

But this year was better. And next year will be better still.

The EQ Design conference was wonderful. Ross Hogarth's ribbon workshop was the best. Honestly.

You should come over some time. We'll treat you to some 'gator and gumbo, hurricanes and hand grenades, some spicy shrimp and get you one of those "Jesus Loves You-The rest of us think you're an ***hole" T-shirts.

Good times.

Tape Op Pictures

I didn't take very many, and am by no means a good photographer, but there you have it.

That EQ sounded great even with headphones ...

There's progress everywhere, even with some of the new releases AND press behind them ... the Newsweek article on hearing loss is a good thing too .... yet it will likely take a little more doing that a few cries of 'help' to assure that shootouts are fair and that a baseline standard is accepted by all those who need to accept it for the war to be called 'over'

Cant thank you enough for that little Jesus joke Lynn ... now I can let go of the subconscious desire to say things like bullsh*t, mutherfu**er and assh*le in your presence (certainly not in response to anything you say ... just to 'represent' the explative team).

And the EQ panel was very cool. (Rupert was out enjoying the conference by checking in on Surround and just walking about.)
