I'd say so. Their channel one is pretty good, the d-esser is one of the best.
Their tube gear has a specific sound (with the champagne colored faceplates). better listen to it first. Didn't try their Goldmike myself.
The gainstation is also nice. And there is the rack. If planning this, keep in mind that a couple of transient designers, and passive eq are not a bad thing to have next to your pre.

The tone? More "modern" than the big transformer sound of the pacifica. Solid state/tube hybrids. More eeehmm "slick". Would do very nicely in R&B and hiphop productions IMHO. I've never heard the earthworks, but it's supposed to be clean, right? You'll be comparing bananas, with apples and melons.

Pop in a NOS tube, it will improve the tone A LOT. (not a fan of sovtek, when it starts to distort, it starts to turn bland) I love my Kultube (terrible name) after new tubes, and new lundahl transformers. Also an option you'd want to consider...

Agreed about the deesser. I prefer it to any other I've ever used, software or hardware (even Drawmer). I've also got a TD4 here that will never leave my rack.

I LOVE the Goldmike for vocals and overheads. quite nice on guitar as well.

all guitars on this tune are sm57-->goldmike
vox-->sm7--->goldmike.

Wow, Bartow... I grew up in Lakeland.

To answer your question- Yes (check out the PQ ).

While I've never thought the SPL pre's sucked, I never felt a need to add one into my setup. I'd go with the Pacifica.
