Question Sennheiser MD421

Hi all,
I was hoping someone could shed some light on a question I have about the settings swtich on the MD421 - N model (White old one) and the MD421 new type. On both mics there is a switch at the bottom witch starts with S and goes to M. I tried researching this switch and its a little confusing to me what it does. I have just tested it myself and noticed a few slight differences but nothin to massive. If someone could help explain this switch better that would be great and much appreciated. At least then I know I am using it the way it was intended - even though if it sounds good go with it

Thanks for your time on this.

Cheers
James

It's a 5-position bass roll-off switch.
M stands for musik and S for sprache (music and speech)
M is no roll-off, S is most roll-off.

I use his brother, the MD441. I almost never use the " M " position, it gives too much bass to me. I prefer to use the next to M position. " S " position sound too much flawless to my senses

421 is a great mic anyway you use it, almost can be used on anything, i never use the M or the S , somehere in between works well w/o not getting to thick or thin.
