Best console for mixing ?

Which console do you prefer for its sound, not how fast you can get a mix done on it but really for THE sound ?
Or if you could put together the parts of the different consoles that you like the most which would these be ?

9098i, best of all worlds...

For a rock "sound", you almost "have" to mix on a SSL G series.

Well now that we know what type of women you prefer maybe you can tell us what kind of console you prefer You do seem like a person who knows what he likes or dislikes.

Djui, can you describe why is 9098i the best of all worlds ?

Personally I think it's the best sounding console in existence, plus it's one of the most flexible consoles in existence. So you get sound, plus features/flexibility.

Thumbs up SSL

Not laughing, although love to.

SSL does have "the" sound... of many "the" sounds

But seriously, SSL is pretty damn good (we're talking 4000 G/E series... other SSL have their strengths of course)

Wow, I've read so many times on this forum that ssl's did not sound so good and that it made stuff come out small or steril....it seemed people only liked the precision of the e.q and the auto record making sound of the quad comp...
Guess no one likes to mix on neve's or api's...

I came to a crossroads 2 years ago, so I built a hybrid system combining everything I loved into a modular console. I run my HD3 with 32 i/o into 16 Neve VR cannels and 16 SSL e channels I have had custom racked into a custom 32 into 8 summing system I designed and built all with balanced inserts on every input and outputs. For me there is no going back. The is very open ended.

Yeah, thats a great idea, I've been thinking about doing something like this for some time, maybe thats the best of all worlds.
Is this a passive summing system where you can insert whatever you want ( pre, comp ) ?

Any pictures ?

Pm me and I'll send you a PDF. but to answer your question, the 16 input box is passive with tranformer balanced inptus (600ohm) with balanced inserts on all inputs, these inputs are then each switch assignable to 8 outputs, This box is designed to be used as a standalone unit (cascadable) or it can be connected to the Master (Cauldron) unit which has 8 transformer balanced inputs (with balanced inserts) and 8 balnced Main and monitor outputs with 8 moving coil VUs.
