Those Attractive Wood Diffusors.....

I see them quite a bit in studios.... located on the back wall. They look fairly easy to make. Do you all know the materials and design? Thanks!

A lengthy discussion of this is just wrapping up in rec.audio.pro. I'd look there for starters. The term "RPG" is in the thread title, I believe.

It's easy, it is nothing more than you see. Wood or Plexiglass. The cavity depth is important. There are two types, quadratic and prime nr. I'm sure RPG has something on their site, d'Antonio (rpg) wrote contributed to Aalton Everest's handbook of acoustics, there is whole thing described to degree you are able to build it yourself.

Helmholtz resonators are something different, they're for absorbing specific low frequencies.

Or as perforated panels for wide bandwidth or low-mid absorption.

If you are a very disorganized person and just stick random pieces of wood together you get about the same effect. Any kind of hardwood will work well. Sometimes it takes a lot of math to arrive at something "intuitive"...
