WHAT's best mic, pre and converter combo for vocals

I
Q1) HOW DOES SOUNDELUX 47 COMPARE WITH AN ORIGINAL tube 47

the Best mic I tried was the BLUE CACTUS
Q2) HOW DOES CACTUS COMPARE WITH THE OTHER TWO

Now,

Q3) WHAT PRE GOES best WITH THE tube 47 ???

And just to prove im the ultimate new rookie, I need a converter too. I guess the quality of the conversion will be the more crucial factor , so I'm willing to pick the software to suit the converter rather than vice versa. I realise it might not sound like 2inch tape, but I want to get as close as pos.

om

You'll never beat this:

Telfunken U47 > Neve 1073 > LA2A

Or if you are on a tighter budjet and need the same sound:

Peluso 2247LE > Chandler LTD-1 > LA2A RI or distressor in LA2A mode.

Brent Averill 1272 with the UAudio Converter will give you a damn sexy sound! I am sure!

The soundelux is a nice choice by the way! The Peluso 22 47 will also be a nice tool!

got me peluso 2247LE (german tube) ~> Great River ~> Distressor ~> RME conversion...

no complaints.

as for conversion....i've heard great things about Cranesong HEDD 192 and Lavry AD.
both can be found for $2200-$2500 used...

The "Wunder-Chain" would be very nice...:

Wunder CM7 (U47 type mic) 5.500 US-$ -> Wunder PEQ1 (1073 type pre) 2.450 US-$ -> Tube Tech CL1B (tube compressor) 2.800 US-$ -> Universal Audio 2192 (converter) 2.800 US-$

Total fun = 13.550 US-$ (approx.) stike

Brauner VM1 -> ADesigns Pacifica -> Purple MC77

depending on your vocal application be wary of too much valve

My typical is Blue Kiwi > Avalon 737 > UA 1176LN > Apogee Rosetta. Sometimes I run a Chandler tg2 on vox instead of the Avalon. Absolutely in love with the Kiwi...what a wonderful mic.

That's a great chain. I replaced the Lavry with a Burl it gave a fuller sound with a more natural bottom end. (Save it nerds if you're gonna jump in here and say that the Lavry gives you exactly what exists in the time and space continuum.)
