Thread Starter | Gary Moore - "The Loner" Guitar Gear, Signal Chain?
Hi All, Anybody have any Idea what was used on the guitar track on this? I'd love to know as much about the chain from fingers to tape as I can. Drum machine tracks aside, the Guitar tone just kills me every time I listen to it. Thanks again, NTRSANDMANN |

I reckon that must have been recorded direct without any speakers judging by the tone... Sounds like a Rockman, or perhaps the little Gallien Krueger he was using around that time... (at least on the previous album Run For Cover).

Thread Starter | Could it be that simple?
If it really was a Rockman direct I'm in shock...... If it was a Gallien Kruger I might just topple over..... Although it might be the ultimate proof that the tone is in your fingers.... With all the expensive boutique tube amps and high dollar Mic's and Pre's and Comp's we all talk about, if he got that tone with a Rockman, I'll buy one tomorrow. Any other confirming or conflicting info on this out there???? Thanks again. |

LOL... He was definitely using the GK (with built-in chorus) through a Marshall 4 x12 on Run For Cover, and the chorus effect sounds pretty similar on this tune Either way I'll wager its recorded direct. It just doesn't sound anything like his earlier strat/ 50 watt marshall tone |

Charvel/Jackson with EMG 81/85's, Scholz Rockman direct to console. He also used Dean Markley and Gallien Krueger amps on that album. Yes, those early 70's Marshalls coupled with tube screamers. Can't go wrong with that setup. |
