Adam Tweeter Question

I got my S3a's last week and have been enjoying mixing on them all week long. They keep sounding better as they break in. I tried them horizontally and vertically, and although aestetically horizontally they look amazing in my space, they sound better to me vertically. My question is: Should I rotate the tweeter for the verticle position or is it the same either way?

Thanks
Frost

if it sounds better vertically, then why bother with it? or you think by rotating it will give you even better results?

The speaker a s a whole sounds better vertically, I dont want to unscrew anything if the dispersion is the same vert or horizontally, I guess I could test it but I wouldnt mind the opinion of someone who has tried this.

Hello there,

I am Klaus Heinz from ADAM Audio and want to shortly comment here.

I have the experience that they sound better vertically too, and you are free to rotate the tweeter if you want, no warranty problem of course. The dispersion is quite similar but somewhat broader in the horizontal position. Besides that I am used to the look of horizontal stripes and would preger to have th tweeter that way.

Hopefully you continue to enjoy the units.

greetings

Klaus

Greetings Klaus!

Would you mind giving us the dispersion specifications? I couldn't find this info either.

Love the S3As!

So......

Anyone tried rotating the tweeters yet?
I too like the monitors when they sit vertically.

Klaus -

I seem to recall hearing you say that when using S3-As vertically, the further away from them one sits, the better idea it is to rotate the tweeters...

I just rotated the tweeters to horizontal.
All I can say is that I like them. But I liked them before too. The thing is, without having another pair next to them to compare, it's kind of hard to remember exactly.
But I have to say....I am under the impression (or illusion) that I can better hear where things are placed, not only from left to right but also in terms of depth.

Who knows?
The mind plays wierd trick sometimes.

(FWIW I used a Gonzalo Rubalcaba's tune named Promenade from a recent record of his called Inner Voyage. Just a piano trio tune that's sonically simple and wonderful.)
