Actually I count 36 V76 or possibly 38, since there are two in the middle that aren't V76/80 - but hey...

I too would be interested to know if this thing actually exists?

Holy Crap! 23 kW? That's almost 200 amps! Does it come with a warning you might have to upgrade your service drop?

This thread reminds me of the deck on the first generation star trek, with all of the lights, knobs, buttons and 70's interface and materials used. I tried finding a picture but this one will have to do :-P

Lightbulb Acousta DCA 200

Thought you might like to see a technically funky board from an Austrian company, it's an Acousta DCA 200: 38 Channel 3 Line/Mic inputs (max. 72dB Gain up to +28dBU) per channel, 114 High-end Preamps, 24 Busses, 16 Auxes, 4x Stereo-Masterbusses, 6 additional Stereo-Ins (2-Track etc.), 2x Master-Sektion, fully symmetric, built within the latest german broadcast-specifications. Analog signal-flow, digitally controlled, great sound. Sold new for around €300,000 back in the late Eighties to theatres and broadcastes. Got hold of it in 2003, had to sell it last year to Berlin when I moved to the countryside and finally built an "invisible desk" instead, totally different story...

On the desk only the signal flow (routing, level) is digitally controlled (with VCAs, relays, etc.) not the actial pots for EQ/Compressor/Aux. No digital conversion in the analog audio signal!

TOP 10 Sexiest Consoles-funkstunde-pult.jpg

Please click to enlarge and see all details.

This is probably the only existing all tube 24 channel German broadcast console in original working condition.
However the sexiest part of the console can't be seen on the picture:

A complete wall of racks filled with legendary classic tube amplifiers:
V76, V74a,V75 and V72 and m10 V86/87

all of them in their original condition and function in the signal chain.

The real beauty of this pic is hidden behind the history of this console.

The pic shows the console in a brand new control room, designed by the IRT ( Institute For Broadcast Technology) Munich.
I had already posted an older pic of the console in the old environment on page 3 of this thread.

The owner, Johannes Brüning was the first Violin Player of the NDR ( North German Broadcast) Symphony Orchestra who could clearly hear the difference when the switch to IC technology and digital recording technology was made. When he retired he bought the complete tube based NDR studio in order to keep it alive and build a private studio for this purpose.
As it is a non commercial private studio, Mr Brüning doesn't have to make any of the typical modern world compromises in order to attrack clients and is able to preserve the historic original mint condition.

This is his website about classical German tube braodcast techologie.

Zentrum für analoge Rundfunk-Tontechnik- funkstunde.com

Right now Mr. Brüning is building a hall for concerts and live recordings.
Many musicians are already looking forward to record through an all historic V-Series
equipped studio on a Telefunken 24 multitrack.
It must be an amazing, ear flattering experience.

Truely a work of passion without we even nowadays would not know the sound of those historic tube based studios anymore. We could only guess based on information from books and from the sound of single V-series units taken out of the context of the original infrastructure.

Best regards,
Peter

Just beautiful Peter... love those Ekmiller EQ's used all over the place...

While my Langevin 12x3 tube console is no where as detailed as this one, I am restoring one for the same reason as Mr. Bruning kept his one alive... because of the sound!

I hope to pair it with an Ampex or Presto 3 track.
