| Word on the grapevine is that they had lots of problems with it and it was never installed properly. During session it was doing all sorts of strange things that turned into a real nightmare. This is third hand info so specifics were lost. Either way, it wasn't right for them. The studio was terminal in Glasgow although it has also gone under the name of the mixing room. G |

Instead of scanning the pic of me recapping the Focusrite Forte with Jim Gillis, I figured you guys would like this picture of the console a little bit better. Not a great scan, but better than seeing my mug with the console from 15 yrs ago

| emi redd 37
the smallish emi console with the curved faders was recently used to remake sgt.pepper... its an 8 in redd 37 that was in my possesion for 10 years. it now belongs to lenny kravitz. it came from abbey rd and was certainly used by the beatles. its the only one known to still exist. I bought it with a friend of mine in about 1981 for $4250. DELIVERED!!! this is a great thread. except for all the modern things...i dont see any OLD calrecs ,nor any old cadacs( i havent finished the thread yet, maybe they are here)...the cadacs may be the best sounding of the lot. the picture of the red wraparound helios came from my old friend don larking; i have a copy of it that says" dan ,this console longs to visit california" on the back of it...it was 14 feet across at the back!!! the smallish brown straight helios used to belong to my ex buisness partner at hyde street....I do have to say that ive never actually heard a helios that sounded very good (I know, blasphemy) but there were a lot of great records done on them . I used to own helios #1, it came from olympic studio2 (beggars banquet) and to quote glyn johns about it " it was like they had gotten something wrong in there"....it was a p.o.s. it was installed at hyde st. studio c , thenI sold it to the moonies, and they sold it to fletcher, who parted out the modules .... the emi series of neves were just fabulous; they built less than 20 of them. sylvia massey has one that is made of two put together in her studio in weed,ca. ..brent averill has a neve #a88, that was the first 24 buss / 24 monitor desk they ever made...but it was designed to hook up to an 8 trk and a 16 trk at the same time. its quite small; i sold him the frame for next to nothin..... ..we also had the oldest neve in america at hyde st. it was 10 in w/1055 (or was it 1054?) modules that were double wide. I also thought it wasnt much good..it came from wessex film... that film mixing neve that is pictured on the neve broshure was at pinewood. I bought it for 3500. and stripped it onsite. alan sides and I sold the modules :I think it was in 1983....... wheres the pics of the trident a and b ranges? built out of tissue paper, but they sounded great...only 14 a ranges ever built...they had 3 of them at cherokee at one time.... I don't know if the Oceanway Focusrite was mentioned, but it's probably one of my favorite consoles ever..

i meant console, sorry, typo. Now off to a pic of a fancy old-fashioned board, if we are on to the oldies anyway. Here's a pic of a Yamaha PM-1000 (1974). I know what you are thinking, but hey it looks decent, sounds great, and got a leather armrest :P |

| Mini Consoles
I know that it was a half joke, but: Those small consoles that Donnx posted would be perfect for my setup! What models are they? I love the look and simplicity. |

| That's pretty Doug. Did you get auto? (check with them about EQs overheating and make sure that's been resolved.)

| Hey Brian, yes we got 24 Shadowmix faders -- soooo cool the way they communicate with Protools -- seamless. Yes, they got the 5 band eq heat issue ironed out -- very responsive company. Did you sell that Pass Labs amp yet? I hope to be in the market in a few months... Just using the Barefoots with subs now?
