Chandler Germanium Pre- what do you use it on?

i've heard alot of people say they get the best results using theirs on guitars and bass. i was wondering what people think about using it on snare (top or bottom?).

just wondering what your experiences are. i have one on layaway... can't wait.

My drum room is no where near to happening yet, so I haven't tried the Germ's with any drums...looking forward to trying it on overheads/room mics, in particular.

I thought I'd throw in a word for vocals....sometimes, this pre is exactly what I'm looking for in a vocal. Feedback cranked anywhere from 3/4 of the way to max does it for me nearly every time...whether a vocal, bass or electric guitar. I usually have 'thick' button in for vox, in for bass, and out for guitar...but there's always exceptions.

And yeah, this is currently my favourite pre for electric guitar and bass. Formerly my goto pre for electric guitars was Chandler TG2...which is still better, IMO, for certain situations, just not my particular current guitar sound/vibe, though it's a close second.

Wade's a super guy and is producing some really amazing gear! Enjoy your Germ...may the transition from 'layaway' to 'playaway' be swift and easy.

I've been reamping snare through it. Sounds great sometimes.

Everything. Literally. I don't own a ton of preamps, but I always test out a new source or mic through everything I own and invariably the Germanium sounds the best.

Guitar is a no-brainer.
Bass is phenomenal, but I kind of prefer the Great River ME-1NV for Bass DI.
Acoustic Guitar is amazing, especially with a ribbon and a J-45.
Kick. Run an Audix D6 with the Thick switch engaged and look out.
Snare. See above, though generally sans Thick.
Vox. Also generally wins out.

My guess is he's never used one. Aren't you familiar with this guy by now? Looks to create a stir by pounding gear unnecessarily with nonsensical statements, not share useful info.

its cool sometimes on snare.

Depends tons on the drummer and the snare itself

I agree 100 percent on vocals

anyone with a tlm 103 and a germ give it a shot on vox, a healthy dose of FDBK and it is really rockin'.

I RARELY ever have love for the tlms.

I use it on guitar (electric/acoustic) and voice. Love it. I split duties on the voice though. Sometimes I like my UA better on certain voices.

Everything I can get away with.
Give it a try with samples & drum machines.
Line out from overdriven guitar amp (fullrange fuzz!)
Analog synth.

At mix I take bass direct and send it to Sans Amp Bass Driver into Germanium to board fader to add to the direct sound (sometimes it completely replaces the original direct).
