Dude--

you need to chill--

I'm not trolling for a Price War----I just want to get a Ballpark Figure and didn't want to wait until tomorrow morning (I just learned about the new Mixer)

I'm very emotional as I just sold my Daking 55270's....I have Daking withdrawal syndrome. Was planning on getting a Manley 8+8 but if this is under 10k it pops into contention.

Plus: I don't like bothering people, especially geniuses like Mr. Daking or pundits like Fletcher, until I am ready to buy something (i.e. Credit Card in Hand).

So some Slut hook a brother up...is this thing $10k...$20k...$30k???

Sorry I did not see which unit you were looking at.The eq-comp sections are going to be at about 4k a piece.

Not bad considering.

Mr. Philbeck--

I apologize for my knee-jerk retaliation. I must have confused this place with Mixerman's over at the RECPIT, where behavior like mine isn't just tolerated, but encouraged...

Respectfully,

I just picked up the Manley Slam, and I've got a couple of channels of Neve 1272....so that gives me Fat and Slow(1272)....as well as Fat and Faster and warmer(SLAM)...the Daking's were Fast (Ultra Fast) and bright but I think I am more of an API man to round out my Mic Pre's at this time.

I will miss the Daking EQ's though...
Must check out the Toft Mixer as well

One of the problems if that I need a compact portable 8 or 16 channel mixer, hence the Manley 8+8

In the same vein, Vintage King has got a 10x2 Kelso for $7.5K

We shall see.

The price on the new modular Daking (the one you are talking about I assume) is going to vary greatly depending on how you configure it. It's going to start around the under $15K range, but that only gets you a small very basic sidecar, not a full featured console. A full featured console with EQs and comps on every channel will run well up into the $50-60K PLUS price range (depending on number of channels, and whether you get the basic return section, the section with EQs/comps, additional mic preamps, and of course a patch bay which adds up quick). Still a lot of bang for the buck if you compare it to a similarly setup new high end console like a 9098 or Legacy. Final pricing won't be set for at least a few more weeks, and you most likely won't see availability on the console for some months to come.

No need for either of you to apologise, although I didn't really appreciate your first entry Robert.
One of the things I love about this forum is living vicariously through other members gear purchases. I'd love to know the price of the Daking stuff so I can daydream for a while. I know it's going to sound great, I know it's way out of my budget, so I don't need to start calling US dealers from the UK when someone who CAN afford it might post the price for me on Gearslutz.

Nathan, mind if I try to satiate my gear lust with some questions about the prototype four channel input module? I gather the i/o is via DB-25s presently, is there an insert point on the pin-out? Having one between the comp and ten-band graphic would be very cool. Were the comp sections linkable?
I assume there was an outboard power supply that each section plugged into, was it the same voltages as his present outboard supply but a high enough capacity for a fully loaded console? Inquiring minds and all that...

I just ordered a pair of Daking pre/eqs. Sounded amazing on my voice when paired with a Soundelux 251.

Can't wait.

16 channels of mixdown w/ center console can be had for under $14k

no pre's or EQ included

edit: 16 channels, not 8

Geoff Daking is a very approachable guy who loves talking about gear. You shouldn't hesitate to contact him if you want info about his consoles or other products.
