Is a U67 with a new Neumann capsule still a U67?

Hello guys,

I can get a nice U67 with destroyed capsule for really cheap. Do the new capsule still sound OK or does this render the mic worthless?

The capsule used in the U67 is the same as the one used in the U87Ai (newer version). So it should not be a problem to replace it.

It will probably be better and just as valuable if not more with a new Neumann capsule.

Give Neumann in Berlin a call.
I would ship it nowhere else than Neumann directly.
A collegue of mine bought an old U89 and had it let them check over.
Neumann are great to deal with and you get a really perfect shape mic back.
Give it to Neumann.
