Chandler TG2 user report

Hi all,

I received my TG2 from Mercenary yesterday and wanted to share my first impression:

To get the picture: I own a small project studio where I record/produce local bands, some independant, some for smaller record labels.
My best pre was the TLAudio 5001 and while I got good results with them (and the rest of my gear) I did some A/B-ing yesterday with the TG-2.
My findings:
The Chandler sounded instant 3D compared to the TLA. The unit has great depth. On snaredrum there was a crispness in the overtones I hadn't recorded before with any of my gear, like having the sound of a new snare head with a used one...

The TG2 freaking killed on dirt guitars.
lush, lush midrange and sweet highs, no problem going digital!
I remember a few weeks there was a lot of talk on preamps and someone suggested the preamps didn't matter too much... This one does!!

Looking forward to using it on 2 guitarprojects I('m starting next month .

Greetings,
Dirk

P.S. If this sounds like a big add for Chandler, I guess it is... But anyway, great unit!

Cool thanks for the report DirkB, have you tried it on kick drum yet?

cdog,

Just briefly tested in on kick with a D112. First impression: a little more well defined in the lowend and a nicer cklick sound.

On kick though, mic placement does so much, I will experiment a little more to fully hear what the unit does on kick. I was already happy anyway with the kick sounds I was getting, but this baby definitely will improve things...

Greetings,
Dirk
