| CES Show 2004 Anyone got a report on CES? We were involved down there with some interesting stuff at the San Remo. We did a "live vs. recorded" demo with a very high end speaker company (Von Schweikert). Geoff supplied a Daking console (Daking) and MicPreEQ's, David Bock came over and brought some Soundelux (ELUX, ifet7, and the new 49 sonic proto), we took some Brauner Phantoms and Valvet Voices and wired it all up with Audio Zen wire. A 4 girl bluegrass group (Misty River band) with some very sweet voices recorded every day from 5-6. Meitner front end to a DSD set up. Pretty interesting! Anyone see or hear it? Brad

| Sounds mighty interesting Brad. did you mean Acoustic Zen cabling? Robert Lee spoke of tackling mic cable as his next big challenge when I spoke to him last a couple of years ago, hmmmm... sounds like good fun! |

| Gear maniac | Hi Greg Yes it was Acoustic Zen. Robert made up mic cabling just for this. He told me he wants to make the "Perfect Mic Cable." I hadn't had experience with Acoustic Zen before... Have you? What do you think of it?

| Just got back from CES last night at around 5am. The show was killer great for us. Highlight for me was seeing Tom Jones at the MGM. (TWICE!) Thanks Rick. Tom Jones is the GREATEST! I love Tom Jones. |

| Todd, Ooooh, dangerous turf... I mean we're sposed to believe wire is wire right? I quite like Robert's cables and find that they allow more info through in very revealing systems. YMMV! I have a set of his biwire speaker cables and some interconnects in the stereo here at the house. I hear things here that I don't necessarily at the studio. I'll have to follow up on the mic cable project and see what he's coming up with. EveAnna, Mr Jones trombonist is a dear friend, glad to see you found time for fun (as always) ;-) ! |

| EveAnna, You forgot to introduce the gents next to you in the picture. The one on the left looks like Rick Rubin (?)... The gent with the Grecian Formula beard is one of my favorites too: Burning Down the House w/ the Cardigans is one of my favorite Tom Jones tunes: Pure Power and Joy! Bobby Torres who as percussionist played with TJ's touring band for close to two decades related the following story to me: Every time TJ would come to Portland in recent years, he would make a point of inviting his old bandmate Torres back stage for the shows. One time, Torres returned the favor and invited TJ to come on down and listen to his small Latin group in a tiny club at the opposite end of town. TJ promised to show up later that night after his big show at the Colisseum was over. Not thinking much about TJ's words, come 1 AM that night, two huge tour busses drive up to the front of the tiny club, and TJ, all of his bandmates and assorted road entourage peel out and squeeze into the club. They all stayed and listened until Bobby's last set was over, to continue drinking pints and reminiscing until the early moring hours. Bobby related the story as one example of the class the man has. Kind regards, Klaus Heyne |

| I'd be interested to hear any impressions of the Daking console. That thing looks killer. I just wish it were a bit more affordable. Sean |
