using lav mics.

So every month, our whole company gets together, in sort of a "keynote" type meeting. The CEO requested us get a lav mic. I had an intern run to guitar center and just buy the $500 Sennheiser lav mic. Feedback, it maxed out very easily. But if it wasn't turned up, it was almost inaudible.

Anyways, it sounded HORRIBLE. the same day, I watch the Mac World Keynote. Steve's mic sounds PERFECT... For $500, and knowing Sennheiser is a great company, I'm pretty sure it's user error ;-)

What do you guys use? Anyone know what Steve Jobs uses? any tips/tricks you can pass on?

thanks!

I've used mostly Shure & Sony. Did you tune the room sound system for use with that mic? What type is the capsule (cardioid, hypercardioid, omni)? Omni capsules can be difficult to use with a sound system.

Sennheiser MKE2's are omni...you can try the Shure MC51B...or wireless WL51..
Countryman also makes excellent Lavs and podium mics as well as the TVstandard for announcers headworn mics...the E6...available in both Omni & cardiod
