Anyone any inside info on how Joss Stones "soul sessions" was recorded?

Ok, I heard a bit of a song from Joss Stone's 1st album "The Soul Sessions", liked it and bought the album. It's F@$king superb, what a singer (only 15 years old then!!), great musicians too, specially the bass player & drummer. I thought the album was really well recorded, spars, dry, natural. Anyone with any inside info on what was used, particularly for Joss's vocals. Mic, pre, comps, eq's etc.

Would love to know what was used if anyone knows

Cheers

Steve

PS If you haven't heard the album, buy it, turn it up, sit back and listen!

Inside info to come...

My good friend going back to University was part of the earliest development of that album, starting with writing with her, Jeremy Ruzumna, who was also the MD and keybaord player for Macy Gray's first few albums... so I'll ask him for the info you want and report back.

If I remember correctly, the basic tracks for some of that album were done by him and her at his personal studio as comps, which as we all know, often turn into the basic tracks for the actual album.

I do know, he played a lot of the parts and it was a real collaboratie effort with her... and she was asupposedly a pleasure to work with.

His studio is solid, but modest. Crane Song, Geffel mic, real Wurly and Rhodes, MPC and SP1200 samplers, etc, running Logic.

I'll find out more for you.

Regards,

andrews
