Apogee Big Ben & HEDD question

I own a Cranesong Hedd 192 that I use as my master clock
with a Sony DMX- R100 and a Radar II ...
I want to purchase a clock distributer. Should I buy the Big Ben
or buy a clock distributer to hook to the Cranesong Hedd 192?
I would also need to clock to Sony DRE/777, Waves L2
Thanks for your help! Gabler

The clock on the HEDD really makes things sound excellent to my ears. Even if you did get a Big Ben, you would still need a WC distribution box for multiple sources. I would get the distribution box first (Lucid makes a good one), hook it up to the HEDD and see how it does. I have a feeling you will be quite happy with the results.

I thought the Big Ben is a word clock distributer also.
6 outputs. Apogee told me the Big Ben would sound better.
They said the Clock distributers electronics makes a difference.
and bieng just a clock and distributer makes a diference
Is this true? Thanks for your help.

I think the the clock in the Hedd is arguably as good as the one in the Big Ben or close enough that it`s purely a judgemental thing as to which is better.
All converters of that level have great clocks or they wouldn`t sound so good.
A stand alone clock is only REALLY noticeable on inferior converters.
Buy a pure distribution box like Lucid sells cheap and save yourself a lot of dough.

Thanks Kevin and Nathan. I dont know why Apogee says different. Is it just to make a sale? They recommended me buying the Big Ben and said it would sound better! I think I will try the Lucid or similiar clock distribution box.

Bro,
I have a hedd-192 and the big ben. I have my stuff riged to a Yamaha DM-2000. Defintly get the Big Ben. Itis a huge differenc. Don;t listen to the Lucid crap. I had a lucid box for years. and for years I tryed everything in my studio to get the sound better. Once I bought the Big Ben it solved everything. The Hedd clock is great. But the Big Ben is the best I have heard. Good Luck

I'm auctioning off my Lucid SSG 192 Master Clock generator here for a good price. Its solid as a rock and less $$$ than Apogee

I have the Big Ben - can't compare it to other clocks, but it made my Rosetta 800's sound even better. Lots of features, like vso (+/- 10 half steps), re-clocking from digital inputs (even seriously jittery sources), and ability to send out multiples of master clock frequency to 2 of the 6 word outputs.

As far as how it sounds, you won't believe it until you try it for yourself.

tru it locks but the problem with lucid is
you loose some highs and lows and depth in the mix. it is minor. but the big ben was perfect. don't bother with Lucid.
