RE: I am new and I would like to introduce myself

http://gearslutz.com/board/showthread.php?t=101590

So, I see this thread was CLOSED by our moderator Chris Lambrects because apparently introducing yourself with a link to your website is no longer Kosher at Gearslutz.

Now, of course Chris has a link to his studio in his signature, but thats "not an advertisement" because he is a MODERATOR.

Yeah, right.

That is the most ridiculous and hipocritical action I have ever seen a moderator of any website undertake. He could have MOVED the thread if its not "high end" enough for him.

Its so clear and panifully obvious to anyone who has been paying attention to gearslutz that this place has been going steadily downhill, if the moderators are now not even allowing new members to post a HELLO with a link to their website, then maybe it really is time to go.

"hi! i just wanted to say hi and i keep thinking i have no time for message boards, but this has been a board i come back to time and time again. i am jd...this is what i do..
www.jdmmobile.com. i also own other studios, but work out of them infrequently. i love music and songwriting. i produce and still heavily expose myself to the creation of music. i have had a crazy and sick love for remote broadcasting and recording since i was young. i love the studio, but there is nothing like the detail it takes to get it right when you only have a single pass.
i hope to learn a ton from you all!
Happy New Year and i hope it is a fantastic one for you all!
You are more than welcome to call on me anytime.

Best,
Jimmy
Jdaniel@jdmmobile.com"

MOD RESPONSE:

"Hey Jimmy,

I'm going to close this one. Thanks for the introduction but I'm afraid the post is a bit too close to advertising yourself ...

Thanks,

Guys I have a bad feeling this thread is going to disappear and the secret Gearslutz police will be coming for my account now that I have publicly shamed a mod by exposing blatant hipocrisy.

Its been nice knowing you guys.

Yeah, but I think Chris can delete this thread from ANYWHERE on GS, not just the forum he mods.

You can't hide from the secret GS police.

I don't think this warrants the downhill slide of GearSlutz. Maybe a little hasty. Having a link in your signiture versus including it in an intro of yourself could be mistaken as advertising, I can see that. Maybe a warning to remove it would have been a little more welcoming to a new member. At any event, it's the moderators call, they're human too ya know.

nothing wrong with having a link in your signature.

Posting a thread ... more so .... registering to post a thread to promote yourself or your company is not allowed ... never was .... it might even be looked upon as spam.

Best way to 'promote' yourself is to actively contribute to the forum.

Thread closed.
