| Wow... thanks guys for unshifted opinions .... though actually we hire up all our customers - when they use our stuff....thus - with adv purposes... ![]() So, we have updated our VELVET channel strip at last, after more than three years of production. Now this device got 5-th tube as pentode based powerful output stage loaded by dual transformer balanced output. As earlier, preamp and leveler are copy our Affinity a2 preamp and Solution S2 leveler which both became reputable due to usage/reviewing by our customers during years. Passive Bell EQ on top of device with gentle correction character... passive is passive, this EQ never been intended for crazy effects like "phone voices", and like mentioned a powerful pentode output stage, a gives some new voicing.... like new strings on guitar ![]() And this device has point-to-point internal wiring now, on metal chassis, with no PCB in signal path, at last, though this wiring take a lot of time and labor. But...... errrrr.... we do .... Thus, VELVET became part of older product line including all balanced Mirror preamp, VARIS variable gain compressor, Tubescream distortion box and Reality summing mixer. Link on device page - VELVET black

| Well, here is some new animal trying to creep out from our bowels onto the light divine... ![]() In fact, we had not plans to manufacture such preamp, however, on many requests of guys who track multiple sources like orchestras, drum sets and percussions, choirs and hating stacking of many preamps one above one ![]() So, we have developed pre and tried to fit 8 ch in 3U case. PSU is outboard, of course. Point-to-point internal wiring, on metal chassis. Pretty complex for an assembling. Cinemag input trafo. Sound is creamy ![]() How about for 24 pure tube channels in 3x3U stack for instance, near your feet/console/control room or in studio corner? ![]() Right now this is first assembled unit(s) and we would like to check out preamps on rigorous registration with serious orchestra, so I hope we shall able demonstrate some audio soon. ![]() |

| Many thanks so, we just did first units for itself right now, own recording facility with orchestras, and also several units for some dedicated studios. So, as we and orchestra producers are satisfied after first sessions, we calculate costs of device to propose for customers. I think we shall able to discuss price policy soon. ![]() |

| Paul ![]() yes, of course, we plan drums. Just right now we wanna to track orchestra and to end thinking for current configuration... to analyze sound signature.... though sound likes to us right now ![]() These babies are gluttonous for amount of perfect Cinemag transformers and XLR connectors.... errrrrr.... , 24 pcs for 24 ch setup, on 3 devices.... |

| wow those 8 channel pres are great. On a side note. Here is a little VARIS example. I happen to have the varis on a drum bus for a mix in progress. The varis lifts & adds a little sparkle to this roomy brush drum sound beautifully.

| Phil ![]() in fact start of discussing is possible, we have settled out our thoughts with base idea & configuration.... transformer outputs or more simple, with transformerless/unbalanced outputs, as well as for triode/pentode variants of channels if it will be requested ![]() |

| Hey, Made a short beat with the unit in feedback mode, on and off the mainbus. And bump to the thread. Albert got any gear development you want to show? ![]() Later. EDIT: Added another to go along. Bassbeat clip has the VariS in feedforward mode, excessively. :-) |

| May I chime in and encourage you to think about a dual-channel eq...? Simple, wide Q for some nice shaping before I hit the A/D, a handful of frequencys, 3 bands or 4? I'd rather spend my money on HCL than, say, API or the new AMS/Neve stuff.

| Yesss, the Gyratec XIV Stereo Parallel-passive Equalizer comes to mind.. but with it's linked channels it's rather for mastering or stereo-only signals than for a handy kick/snare combo.. I even wouldn't mind an eq solely for THAT purpose. Think about it, kick and snare have similar needs for sweetening, but need different frequencies. It would be a good selling point to stand apart from the multitude of mee-too EQs. Because, that's the reason stuff sells, it's good at something all the other boxes won't do as gracefully. I just thought of a name: the backbeat box. Does anybody else think this is a good idea? After all, in MY workflow it's not about unnerving the band by fiddling with the knobs for half an hour getting a sound but get results fast so the band (everyone together in the room, gentlemen!) can stay in the flow. And I don't insist on a passive EQ (which sometimes is just too sweet on drums), it could be anything in topology. But that would be Alberts job ![]() |

.Thats the thing with bespoke handcrafted gear, most sites in the gear industry aren't shiny, smooth and crisp. But at the end of the day, your buying a product, not the website. Luckily there are good people in the Handcrafted gear industry. I just love the look of the gear on that website.

| That makes slightly more sense (although still not much). I'm gonna use it in my everyday speech nevertheless - hopefully to dismay of my friends and family. But just so I don't embarass myself in front of a British person what exactly does that mean and when do you use it? When something is bad? wrong? poorly constructed? weird? Edjumacate me please. |

Nah, I gotcha. It's a really cool expression. Oh England, you came up with an excellent language but still not satisfied with its overwhelming success in the market you continue to make small upgrades here and there. Thank you, very much, A satisfied language user. | |
