| Peluso 2247LE on a guitar amp???? Anybody tried this mic on on guitar amps ...... A friend of mine told me to try this on my 4x10 Fender Deville ...... So I stuck the Peluso 2247 LE right up on the amp and I got a sort of a hollow sound, I moved it back, to the side ..... nothing sounded good. Any suggestions? Maybe I should get a 421 ....... |

| We use the 2247 (short body) and get spectacular sounds...you might check the different polar settings, as cardiod vs omni vs whatever makes a huge difference in what the mic actually picks up... Of course, a good pre is needed...the usual suspects (ADesigns, API) all sound slap killer with our Peluso.

| The 22 47LE will give you a great low end sound but you generally want to couple that mic with another one such as the Royer 121, or Peluso R14. If you only want to use the 22 47LE try setting the mic where you hear the sound you are after (i.e. if you are standing 5 feet in front of the amp set the mic where your ear is). The 47 is not an SM57 that you stick right up on the speaker grille. It's got a huge sound to it and if you were to stick your head up on the grille and play I think you'll probably hear the sound the 47 was reproducing. Have someone move the mic around until you find the sweet spot. I think you'll be very happy.

Hint: on 4-10 cabs there are some zones kinda close to the grill in which speakers act strangely...try moving the mic back about 3" from one speaker, and see if that helps. We usually pick one speaker out of a multi-way cab and mic it, to avoid the weirdness that can occur...especially with open back cabs having reflections off the baffle and coming off of whatever is behind your amp...

| Thanks guys I will try that out ........ So you can get good, big sounds out of the Peluso 2247LE - Pacifica combo? I am still wondering if I should just buy a SM7 or a 421 to do electric guitars right ... (but I am on a budget) |

| The dynamics you mentioned work very well on guitar amps, too...as do SM57s, most old ribbons, SennE409s, 421, etc...I don't think there is a mic ever made that hasn't produced some decent results with gtr amps... check your PMs
